Lunch & Nutrition
At Lauderdale we work at making the healthy choice the easy choice and use the program of "Follow the Rainbow to a Healthy Lunch", and use a rainbow to represent the four food groups. We encourage students to bring a rainbow lunch to school everyday! Green represents fruit and vegetables; Yellow represents grain products; Blue represents milk and alternatives; Red represents meat and alternatives.
Paid lunchroom supervisors provide a supervised lunch service for students in regular classes whose parents are unable to make other suitable arrangements for their children. The cost of this program is $10/month per child (with a maximum of $20 for families with 2 or more children at Lauderdale) or $2/visit for occasional users. Students need to bring a ready to eat lunch to school as microwaves and kettles are not available to heat up food.
We also have a FREE DAILY Breakfast Club, each morning at 8am to 8:25am in our Library. All students are welcome, we just need a registration form to ensure any dietary needs, restrictions or allergies. This program is supported by BREAKFAST for LEARNING as well as private donations.
We also provide every student with a daily healthy snack and again this program is supported by FOOD for THOUGHT as well as private donations.
